Open Water Swimming
Melbourne2020 IGLA Championships will hold the openwater swimming competition at Williamstown Life Saving Club, Williamstown

The Open Water Swimming races will be held at the Williamstown Life Saving Club, Williamstown. Williamstown LSC is an easy train ride from the CBD, and is a premier life saving club, often holding State and National Championships.
The OWS Races will be set on a 2.5 km course, and there will be the opportunity for 5 km and 2.5 km races. [3 miles, and 1.5 miles respectively.] It will start and finish at the beach, with the course outlined in the photo. Wet suits may be worn but will be scored and categorized separately [The water will be 20+-2 C]. Awards will be given to non-wetsuit swimmers. Those wearing wet suits will be presented as exhibition swimmers.
Anyone 18 years of age or older, regardless of ability, is welcome to participate.
Competition will take place Sunday morning 23 February, with a start time of 10:00am. Check-in is from 8:30am to 9:15am. All swimmers must attend the mandatory course safety briefing at 9:30 am.
Registration is limited to the first 400 participants.
Registrations will open in August.
Registration will close Monday, January 20 at 11:59pm, Australian Eastern Daylight Savings Time.
